Royal Darwin Hospital
Royal Darwin Hospital is a 360-bed teaching hospital affiliated with Flinders University in South Australia and Charles Darwin University in Darwin. The largest hospital in the Territory, Royal Darwin Hospital services an extensive area and is the primary location for trauma response and remote care.
Royal Darwin Hospital is home to the National Critical Care and Trauma Response Centre. Established after the hospital’s assistance following the 2002 Bali bombings, the centre is responsible for critical emergency care and response to incidents both nationally and across our close neighbours in South East Asia.
Royal Darwin Hospital is also home to a variety of specialist services including the Alan Walker Cancer Care Centre.
Palmerston Regional Hospital is a brand new 116-bed hospital specialising in rehabilitation and geriatric evaluation and management services as well as having a 24-hour emergency department, medical ward, day surgery, maternity, and outpatient clinics. The hospital is set to open in mid-2018.
Katherine District Hospital
The Katherine District Hospital is a non-specialist public hospital that services Katherine and the surrounding region and remote areas. A 60-bed facility, Katherine District Hospital offers a 24-hour emergency department, maternity ward, and general medical and surgical services.
Gove District Hospital
Gove District Hospital in Nhulunbuy services the remote areas of East Arnhem region.
This 30-bed acute care facility provides medical, surgical, paediatric, respite and maternity services. Patients from 15 remote communities are referred to the hospital for inpatient, outpatient and specialist care.
A district medical officer also services the region giving medical advice and organising patients to be admitted to hospital or evacuated by air to Royal Darwin Hospital.
